James Rodriguez had a brilliant game, scoring 2 goal, one which was absolutely sublime. Class performance.

Gary Medel played 107 minutes looking like a refugee from the hospital but was an absolute rock in the Chilean Defence.

Tim Howard was a beast of a keeper and saved the USA from an embarrassment, with a record 16 saves.

Guillermo Ochoa was superb and made plenty of saves to keep Mexico in the game, the most notable one being Stefan De Vrij’s header.

Manuel Neuer was fabulous, playing a sweeper-keeper. He saved Germany quite a few times and was let down by his defenders.

Sofiane Feghouli ran havoc on the right flank vs Germany and kept Howedes at bay at all times.

Kevin De Bruyne was instrumental for Belgium in the hard fought victory against the USA, creating chances for Divock Origi time and time again. Scored a goal late on and gave an assist for the winner.

Romelu Lukaku proved his worth to the Red Devils with a goal and assist within 15 minutes after being brought on.

A mention to all the goalkeepers who are not aforementioned as they very good and somewhat unsung heroes in their teams. Although not all of them made it through, they did make their country proud. Special mentions to Vincent Enyeama, Julio Cesar,Keylor Navas, David Ospina and Diego Benaglio.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored a goal after replacing former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, and gave an assist after being brought on although he had only 8 touches in the entire game.

Andre Schürrle was the shining light for Germany, scoring a lucky goal and giving as assist for the winner. He filled the Götze void very efficiently.
